Portraits, oil paintings

Portraits painting like the portrait to the left is painted using a digital photo.
The father of the man on this painting ordered this portrait painting and other portraits too. He sendt me a couple of digital photos which i could choose between. It is important that the photo is good in colour and sharp. Photo portraits can be successful, but portrait paintings done using oil colour will to me be the ultimate way to make good portraits.

I feel this portrait might be one of my best portrait painting i have ever made. The Mona Lisa copy is of course my number one portrait though it is a copy.
The quality connected with this painting of "Runar" is, i think, at first the likeness to the model that i have established. I also feel that he to some degree looks alive. The use of lightness and shadows is contributing in that matter.

I have always looked up on portrait paintings made by Rembrandt as my ideal in portrait painting. He was at his best able to make his portraits look alive. I feel i have managed in this portrait to give life to the man who is portraited. I believe that when i am painting portraits if i am able to consentrate extremely it is possible to give life to portrait paintings like i think i have been able to do on this one.
