Portrait artist painting still life
I have been painting portraits for many years now. My first years as an artist i was thinking of becoming a portrait artist. Anyway as an portrait artist i have many times painted other things like nature, still life or a combination of portrait and nature. In Norway where i live i am a portrait artist among many others, so the competition is hard. I guess it is like that everywhere.
One if the portrait artist i admire the most is Rembrandt. His portraits is so full of life that it is hard to understand how he has painted his portraits. Other portrait artists that have inspired me is ofcourse Leonardo da Vinci and Caravaggio.
I used my first years as an artist to accomplish a high level as a drawer of portrait before i started to painting portraits using oil colour. I believe that it is important to know the secrets behind a good drawing before staring to paint. Being a portrait artist is very difficult, and there is not room for mistakes if you want to get happy customers. If you have not seen my portraits yet, take a look at some examples in my gallery.
