"Still life with bread "

Paintings using oil colours

I started to paint oil paintings almost twenty years ago. Paintings made by other kind of colour
has never interested me much. I guess i feel a stronger connection with the old masters using
the same kind of colour as them. Other kind of paintings is of course also nice to look at but
to me paintings made by oil is the only "way to go".
Through the years i have travelled some in Europe and visited a lot of museums to look at the
so-called great masters paintings. Paintings made before the 19th century has always been my
favourite. Painters like Rembrandt and Caravaggio has always fasinated me and of course the few
paintings made by Leonardo da Vinci.

Modern paintings is very seldom interesting to me. If the artist have used a high level technique it
might be of some interest. In modern paintings i feel the whole idea is about something else than
in every classical paintings, but i would have to admit that i dont know enough about this issue to
say something wise on this matter. What is interesting is to try to figure out where the paintings
will be in the future. How will the artists paint, what will they paint and for what reasen will people
continue to make paintings. Is it possible that artists will stop to make paintings and use another
method to express themselves of to say something about the society that might be to difficult to say
making paintings.

Still life Paintings

Paintings like the still life painting above has never been very popular among the artbuyers. But for the
artists it is, or at least can be a very good practice to make paintings like this. I painted this painting and
a serial of paintings like this one right after i had finished the copy of Mona Lisa. I also used a lot of the
same technique painting this serial of paintings like a used painting Mona Lisa.

I do not think i will start again making a serial of paintings like this again. At the time it was ok, but now
i find them not so interesting as paintings. Now i like paintings that is more exiting than still life.
Maybe paintings where it is hard to see what has beed painted, or paintings with other things painted
than fruit or vegetables. Paintings with people or paintings with nature have always been more popular
than still life. I would have to admit that i like paintings like that better too.
